2018 Chrysler Pacifica v. 2018 Kia Sedona

April 30th, 2018 by

The minivan segment is pretty small in comparison to other segments like sedans or SUVs, so a lot of people assume most minivans offer mostly the same features and the biggest difference is just a matter of the brand. But that’s definitely not the case. The Chrysler Pacifica offers better standard features than any other minivan. The Chrysler Pacifica even outshines the Kia Sedona, which is a minivan manufactured by Kia, a company that has been named Highest in Initial Quality for two years in a row. Here’s the breakdown of features of both minivans.

The Chrysler Pacifica is equipped with a 287-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. The engine is not only powerful enough to give the Chrysler Pacifica a max towing capacity of 3,600 pounds, but it is also one of the most fuel efficient engines in the segment. The 3.6-liter V6 gives the Chrysler Pacifica an average of 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

The 2018 Kia Sedona is equipped with a 3.3-liter V6 engine, and it produces 276 horsepower, which is slightly less horsepower than the Chrysler Pacifica. Although the Sedona is less powerful, it is also less fuel efficient, too. The Sedona averages 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The Kia Sedona also provides a max towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

Though the Chrysler Pacifica outperforms nearly every minivan, it’s engine isn’t even the best feature, so what is the best feature? The Stow ‘n Go seating. The Chrysler Pacifica is available with seating for seven or eight passengers, and regardless of which seating configuration a buyer opts for, both rows of seats are Stow ‘n Go seats. Stow ‘n Go seats are super convenient because they offer users the freedom to store the minivan seats into storage compartments that are built-in to the floor, and that means that users can easily use their vehicle to transport all types of cargo at any given time. In addition to being able to store the second- and third-row seats, the storage compartments can also be used to store other items when the seats are not in there, which is a really nice feature for passengers in the back rows.

In addition to the awesome seats, the Chrysler Pacifica comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, Uconnect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and six-speakers. The minivan also has a couple different USB ports so the driver and passengers can charge their devices, and every Pacifica is equipped with sunscreen glass, which is a nice feature in a place as sunny as South Florida.

The Kia Sedona also provides seating for seven or eight passengers, but it isn’t available with Stow ‘n Go seating. The second-row seats can be folded in half and then stored directly behind the front-row seats, so it does provide an area for cargo, but it’s nowhere near the size of the cargo space in the Chrysler Pacifica.  Other features of the Kia Sedona include a 5-inch touchscreen, UVO, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and four speakers.
