2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

September 4th, 2018 by

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is no stranger when it comes to developing special edition trims for the vehicles in their lineup, with the Jeep® brand sometimes offering over ten special edition vehicles in a single model year. The 2018 model year is no exception as Jeep recently announced the arrival of its 2018 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition. This Moab edition shares its namesake with the location of the Easter Jeep Safari – an annual off-road experience for Jeepers hosted in Moab, Utah.

If the special edition moniker didn’t give it away yet, this Jeep isn’t cheap. This latest edition Wrangler has a starting MSRP of $52,695 (including the destination fee), and is a considerable $12,905 more than the Wrangler Sahara trim on which it’s based on. It should be noted that the special edition version is worth the extra cost – its standard features include items that would normally add up to $8,000 in optional upgrades on the Sahara, and plenty of extras that only the Moab Wrangler edition can have.

The Moab edition comes standard with a Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case and Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential – both adding substantial off-road power usually reserved for the Wrangler’s top trims. Off-road rock rails, steel bumpers with removable end caps, 17-inch black alloy wheels with 32-inch mud-terrain tires, and a specifically designed hood – all borrowed from the brand’s premier Rubicon trim – make this an exceptional vehicle. Low-gloss black details on the headlights, grille and tow hooks complete the menacing one-of-a-kind look. The Moab Wrangler edition comes with a standard body-colored hardtop, while the Dual Top or Sky One-Touch Power Top are both offered as options.

Available only in the Unlimited four-door style, the Moab Edition is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine under the hood and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both the six-speed manual transmission and the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine are unavailable on this special edition Wrangler. Inside, the Moab gets premium leather seats, a leather-wrapped dashboard, a blind spot warning system, all-weather floor mats, a keyless access system, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system and an 8.4-inch infotainment system complete with navigation – Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities included. Remote start, heated seats and a heated steering wheel are some of the available upgrades prospective buyers can consider. Oh, and there’s a big Moab decal on the side of the hood that will let everyone know this isn’t a run-of-the-mill Jeep.
