2019 Jeep Renegade Highlights
The smallest SUV offering from the Jeep lineup, the Renegade, is often considered an entry-level SUV with the off-road abilities of its large counterparts. Few changes take place for the 2019 model year as the Renegade remains similar to last year’s model. There’s a new front fascia and grille, new available-options groups, and active grille shutters. Additionally, a new 1.3-liter engine with improved fuel economy offers an alternative to the existing 2.4-liter Tigershark inline-four engine.
The 2019 Renegade is available in four different trims: Sport, Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited. All trims are available in 4×2 and 4×4 configuration with the exception of the Renegade Trailhawk trim. As the off-road oriented trim, the Renegade Trailhawk is 4×4 only.
As we mentioned earlier, the standard under the hood of the Renegade is a 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The all-new turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine offers 177 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque and comes standard on the Trailhawk and Limited trims. Those looking to add more power and performance to the Sport and Latitude trims can opt to upgrade with the Tigershark. Also standard on all Renegade trims is a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Standard safety features included in the 2019 Renegade include hill-start assist, driver-inflatable knee bolster airbags, a rearview camera, and electronic roll mitigation. Advanced safety features vary depending on the optional packages that include blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning with active braking, lane departure warning, and rear-park assist.
The 2019 Renegade Sport offers buyers a standard 5-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Uconnect 3 and Bluetooth hands-free technology. All other trims offer a standard 7-inch touchscreen display with Uconnect 3, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth hands-free technology, and Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities. A navigation package includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen, HD radio, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Google Android Auto, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and live traffic information.
Comfort & Convenience
Cloth upholstery is standard, as is keyless entry and start folding rear seats, and interior cargo tie-downs. Leather upholstery is an available upgrade on the Trailhawk trim, but it’s standard on the high-tier Limited. Additional options packages are available as well at varying trim levels and include features such as heated seats, a heated steering wheel, black or chrome appearance touches, advanced safety technology, additional power connections, navigation, and leather upholstery.
When the Renegade is equipped with the 1.3-liter engine and 4×2, it’s got a fuel economy rating of 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The same engine combined with 4×4 yields fuel economy ratings of 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. When the Renegade is outfitted with the 2.4-liter Tigershark and 4×2, its EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings are 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Once again, when the Tigershark engine and 4×4 are paired up the fuel economy ratings are 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
