2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
All-new for the 2021 model year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L takes the world’s most-awarded SUV to new heights. 15.1 inches longer than the existing Grand Cherokee model, the 2021 Grand Cherokee L offers comfortable accommodations for up to seven people over three rows of seats. This is Jeep’s first entry into the three-row SUV segment and it does not disappoint.
5.7-L HEMI V8
Avail. Engine Type
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L features a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 under the hood and is available in six different trims: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. Jeep finetuned the engine stop/start system to better minimize the number of stops and starts due to minor throttle movements. Active engine mounts were also added to aid in the reduction of noise, vibration, and harshness. With this new chassis, the classic Pentastar V6 engine is mounted about 1.5 inches lower, giving this model a better center of gravity and improving its cornering ability. Both the Summit and Overland trims offer an optional 5.7-liter HEMI V8 upgrade, with 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
4WD Systems & Towing Figures
Jeep offers three types of four-wheel-drive systems on the all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Quadra-Trac I is standard on the Laredo and Limited trims and is a full-time single-speed four-wheel-drive system. Standard on the Altitude and Overland trims is the Quadra-Trac II system — an active four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case and hill-descent control. The top-tier Summit and Summit Reserve trims come equipped with Quadra-Drive II, with high and low ranges, and the inclusion of an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Quadra-Drive II is standard on the Overland model when ordered with the Off-Road Group Package. Towing figures with the 3.6-liter V6 peak at 6,200 pounds, while the V8 tops out at 7,200 pounds. With a 23-gallon fuel tank and an efficient V6 engine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has a driving range of nearly 600 miles.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L builds on the legacy of the first Grand Cherokee that debuted in 1992. Borrowing some inspiration from the original Wagoneer model as well, the Grand Cherokee L and its external design feature a harmonious lean profile, a low beltline, slim LED headlights, and a long hood. Additionally, Jeep also made the front fascia larger than on previous Grand Cherokee models. There’s a gloss-black roof upgrade that’s standard on the Summit trim, and optional on the Overland. The modern design style is further accentuated by available premium LED fog lighting for an extra special glow.
Sophisticated and with an air of having been handcrafted, the 2021 Grand Cherokee L has an angled instrument panel to add spaciousness to the interior cabin. Both the 10.25-inch digital gauge display and the 10.1-inch Uconnect infotainment screen are perfectly integrated into the dashboard. Clothing upholstery is standard on the entry-level Laredo trim, but all other Grand Cherokee L trims are upgraded to leather. The top-tier Summit trim features perforated Nappa leather and is accentuated with quilted bolsters. Jeep complements the supple leather with open-pore wood trim. A metal gearshift dial comes standard on the Grand Cherokee L’s center console, while paddles beside the steering wheel allow drivers to downshift or upshift without having to move their hands off the steering wheel.
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes standard with Jeep’s latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto connectivity are standard, which makes keeping in touch with your vehicle easier than ever before. And speaking of connectivity being better than ever before, the Jeep Connect app relies on Alexa or Google Assistant to shut off the engine, check tire pressure, flash the lights, lock or unlock the doors, and more. A state-of-the-art 19-speaker McIntosh premium audio system is available on the top-tier trims, with a 17-channel amplifier pulsing up to 950 watts per hour and a 10-inch subwoofer.
