Jeep Plays up Affordable Luxury With the 2021 Jeep Cherokee Limited LUX

October 9th, 2020 by

Jeep continues to expand its Cherokee lineup, this time with the introduction of its 2021 Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX. The automaker has been taking tiny steps to incorporate more luxurious accents and features in its vehicles, hence this SUV with the LUXury appeal right in its nomenclature. Previous Cherokee trims have received high marks from renowned consumer-oriented staples such as J.D. Power for example, as it listed the Cherokee as the third most popular vehicle in its 2018 list of 10 Most Popular Midsize SUVs and Crossovers. Additionally, J.D. Power also rated the Cherokee a 5 out of 5 in its 2019 list of Highest Quality Family SUVs. High-priced luxury brands may not fare well during economic uncertainty, but the Jeep Cherokee Latitude LUX has a starting MSRP in the low $30,000 range.

“The new 2021 Cherokee Latitude LUX truly enhances the Jeep lineup and is a direct reflection of what our customers want and value the most in their vehicle — everyday practicality, exceptional comfort, with outstanding ride and handling characteristics. As the most capable midsize sport-utility vehicle, the Jeep Cherokee continues to offer consumers the ultimate blend of all-weather 4×4 capability and even more standard amenities at an incredible value,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand — FCA North America.

The 2021 Cherokee LUX comes standard with a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine capable of 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. When paired with the automaker’s towing package, the Cherokee LUX is rated to tow up to 4,500 lbs. There’s also an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged engine complete with an electronic start-stop system and it’s only $695 more. The turbocharged 2.0-liter generates 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired to the same nine-speed automatic transmission.

Another standard feature of the Cherokee Latitude LUX is the brand’s Selec-Terrain traction control system that offers five different drive modes and a rear-axle disconnect that improves fuel economy when 4×4 power is not necessary. The interior of the Cherokee LUX features standard Nappa leather seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, power and heated seats complete with a power lumbar adjuster, and automatic windshield wipers. For an added touch of luxury, Jeep also offers a package that adds a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display, and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system.

Jeep didn’t propose any major changes to the exterior design of the 2021 Cherokee — on any trim level, but buyers have a plethora of exterior color options to choose from: Sangria, Slate Blue, Sting Grey, Billet Silver, Velvet Red, Olive Green, Bright White, Granite Crystal, Light Brownstone, Spitfire Orange, and Diamond Black Crystal. The 80th Anniversary Edition of the Jeep Cherokee has an exclusive Hydro Blue exterior color option.
