Jeep, Ram, and Muscle Cars help FCA Stay at the Top
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) continues to make its presence known and respected in the car manufacturing market, with a reported 8 percent rise in sales this past June, and a year-to-date sales increase up at 5 percent, FCA is outranking the competition. In terms of FCA cars revenue, the Dodge Challenger continues to shine despite its basic structure not having received an update since 2008. Case in point, in the first half of the year the Dodge Challenger outsold the newer Chevrolet Camaro, moving a total of 37,367 units, a respectable 4 percent increase from the same period in 2017. Ram rounds up FCA’s sales success in the first half of 2018 with a 1 percent increase when compared to the same time last year.
Specifically powering FCA’s boost in sales is consumer demand for SUVs- Jeep® SUVs to be exact. Clearly it doesn’t hurt to never go out of style, like in the case of Jeep, whose continuous efforts to breathe new life into its lineup is paying up- Jeep sales are up a whopping 19 percent from just a year ago. Jeep deserves a special mention not only because they are powering the bulk of FCAs boost in sales, they’re also working diligently to make refreshing changes to their lineup- and it’s paying off.
The newly upgraded Jeep Compass is largely responsible for this boost in sales; with its complete makeover, the Compass rose a massive 82 percent from its predecessor. Numbers don’t lie and it is obvious that consumers are enjoying the Compass sleeker body style as opposed to its previous boxy feel. Additionally, Jeep now offers the Trailhawk trim for the Compass, loaded with off-road capabilities like tow hooks, upgraded all-terrain wheels, and the inclusion of the Selec-terrain system that allows the driver to switch between driving modes no matter the occasion. The Jeep Compass is also available in three other trims- Sport, Latitude and Limited.
The all-new Jeep Wrangler also deserves an honorable mention here- they’ve experienced an impressive 23 percent jump in sales as well. The familiar design remains with a few changes made for modernization like the subtle shifting of the headlights and taillights, and larger side windows for improved visibility. Making strides in its comfort level, the Jeep Wrangler adds extra rear seat legroom by expanding its wheelbase either 1.4 or 2.4 inches for 2- or 4-door models respectively. Another improvement consumers will be happy to read about is the fact that the all-new Jeep Wrangler now has a fuel economy of up to 23 mpg city or 25 mpg highway- substantially up from the previous model, which barely scratched the surface up to 17 mpg city or 21 mpg highway.
As far as trends go, the brand is slated to continue its revenue streak well into the second half of the year. With the new Jeep lineup, and its tendency to fly off dealer lots, it is expected that FCA will build on their already strong first-quarter results.
