The Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel Gets One Last Hurrah
The Wrangler EcoDiesel is coming to an end, and Jeep introduced the limited-edition 2023 Wrangler Rubicon FarOut model to mark the occasion. The EcoDiesel-powered Jeep Wrangler was initially introduced in 2020 with 442 lb-ft, making it the most capable Wrangler vehicle to date. After the EcoDiesel-powered Wrangler’s debut, Jeep again topped itself with the Wrangler Rubicon 392, offering buyers 470 horsepower and up to 470 lb-ft of torque. The Wrangler 4xe came next, innovating not only with its plug-in hybrid powertrain but its 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, as well as 21 miles of all-electric range.
“At Jeep, we are always listening to our customers and driven to improve on our legendary 4×4 capability. The Wrangler Rubicon FarOut special edition is our tip of the hat to the EcoDiesel technology on Wrangler,” said Jim Morrison, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep Brand North America.
For 2023, the Jeep Wrangler will offer the following four powertrain options: 2.0-liter turbo, 3.6-liter V6, 6.4-liter V8, and the 4xe plug-in hybrid. On the other hand, the Jeep Gladiator will continue to offer the EcoDiesel in addition to the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler FarOut edition comes with the following standard equipment:
- “Diesel 3.0L” hood graphic

2023 Jeep Wrangler
For 2023, the Wrangler retains its classic body-on-frame design, solid axles, and a front/rear five-link suspension system. It remains one of the few SUVs on the market to offer a six-speed manual transmission in addition to its standard eight-speed automatic. Technology features are also showcased on the 2023 Wrangler, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more, furthering the model’s overall appeal.
