What to Know About the All-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The competitive three-row SUV segment just got even more crowded as Jeep introduced the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. This marks the first time Jeep offers a three-row option on any of its vehicles since the brand discontinued the Commander model more than a decade ago. Although Jeep deems the Grand Cherokee L as a full-size SUV, it actually stacks up pretty nicely in the mid size segment instead. That said, the upcoming Jeep Grand Wagoneer is sure to take on the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, GMC Yukon and more.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L features the same aggressive front fascia as the existing Grand Cherokee, while its rugged, but luxurious, style remains untouched as no Jeep SUV is meant to only trek the pavement. Jeep’s strategy is to attract buyers with the Grand Cherokee L as an alternative to a costly luxury SUV. Besides the obvious, the Grand Cherokee L holds real curb appeal as it competes with other off-road-themed models such as the Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Chevy Traverse to name a few. However, Jeep is encroaching on luxury territory with the Grand Cherokee L and its futuristic and inviting cabin proves it.
Filled with premium materials, including genuine leather and real wood, along with cutting edge technology like the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system, the Grand Cherokee L means business. There’s also a 10.1-inch Uconnect infotainment display, along with heated/ventilated front and rear seats complete with massage functions, and a fully digital instrument cluster, making the Grand Cherokee L a contender for top of its class.
Another area in which the Grand Cherokee L is destined to shine? It is its cargo and passenger capacity — both figures readily exceed the existing two-row Grand Cherokee. Seating can accommodate up to seven passengers, but the 2021 Grand Cherokee L can also be a six-seater thanks to the available second-row captain’s chairs. Passengers have plenty of legroom and headroom thanks to the spacious second and third rows. As for cargo capacity, the Grand Cherokee L accommodates 17.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 46.9 cubic feet behind the second row, and 84.6 cubic feet in total.
