2017 Chrysler Pacifica Earns J.D. Power IQS Award
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study is one of the most important studies in the auto industry because the study is seen as comprehensive, fair and accurate. This year, the Chrysler Pacifica earned the top spot in the minivan
segment in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, and we can’t say we are surprised.
As the original creator of the minivan back in the ‘80s, Chrysler has always had a penchant for minivan design and all of Chrysler’s years of designing paid off when they introduced the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.
First and foremost, Chrysler aimed to make the Pacifica as desirable as possible, so they started with quality. Everything from the Pacifica’s touchscreen to radio to interior materials to lighting are high-quality and that shows true according to the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. Unlike some vehicles which look nice, but quickly start to break inside and out during the beginning of ownership, the Pacifica was built with good, durable materials that are user-friendly.
In addition to using quality materials, the Pacifica’s is a quality vehicle due to its quality design. Chrysler aimed to make the Pacifica an ideal vehicle for parents and children. To keep children comfortable in the back seat, the seats are spacious, windows have a special sunscreen glass and there are climate controls in all three rows of seats. To allow parents control over the vehicle’s entertainment features, the Pacifica has an easy-to-access large touchscreen in the center console as well as audio controls on the steering wheel. Parents are also pleased with the minivan’s automatic sliding doors and helpful tailgate sensor that opens the trunk with the wave of a foot.
Though not new to the Pacifica, the Pacifica’s innovative Stow ‘n Go storage seating system is definitely a quality that makes it stand out from other minivans on the market. The Stow ‘n Go storage seating system makes it very easy for users to fold up the vehicle’s second- and third-row seats into built-in floor storage compartments to fit big items. But when the seats aren’t folded up, the built-in floor storage compartments can be used to store a variety of items to give passengers more room.
Another area the Pacifica shines in is engine performance. The Pacifica is equipped with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and it is powerful, smooth and fuel efficient. The engine produces 287 horsepower and gives the Pacifica a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, which is great for a minivan. The engine is paired to an innovative automatic transmission that results in a smooth and steady ride at all speeds as well as a great fuel economy of 28 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city. Not fuel efficient enough for you? Check out how fuel efficient the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is below.
