2018 Jeep Compass
The 2018 Jeep Compass is an excellent vehicle for South Florida. It offers drivers all of the convenience of an SUV, while also being practical for the city and suburbs. The Compass was redesigned for the 2017 model year, so the 2018 Jeep Compass has modern design and tech features as well as a dependable engine.
Trims and Engine
The 2018 Jeep Compass lineup includes four trims, the Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. New for the 2018 model year is the option of a 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain on the Sport, Latitude and Limited trims. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk, a trim specifically designed for off-roading, is only available with a 4×4 drivetrain.
All 2018 Jeep Compass trims are powered by a 2.4-liter I4 MultiAir engine. The engine produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine can be paired to one of three transmissions, a 6-speed automatic, a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic. The 9-speed automatic transmission is limited to 4×4 models, whereas the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions are available with 4×2 or 4×4 models.
Drivetrain
Drivetrain is an important component of Jeep models because they are known for their off-road capabilities. Jeep Compass models that are equipped with four-wheel-drive are available with Jeep Active Drive Low, as well as a Selec-Terrain system. The Selec-Terrain system provides different drive modes for various road conditions. Jeep Active Drive Low makes it possible for the vehicle to achieve a 20:1 crawl ratio, which is great for taking on steep inclines and rock crawling. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is equipped with Jeep Active Drive Low and it’s Selec-Terrain System features five modes, rock, sand, snow, auto and mud.
Exterior
The Jeep Compass has contemporary exterior design that’s a mix between the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee. As all Jeep models have, the Compass has a seven-slot front grille, but some of its unique qualities are its sculpted front headlights, and noticeably slanted front grille and windshield. The Compass comes standard with 16.5-inch black steel wheels, and other available wheel options include 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels. The Compass also comes with solar control glass, a rear window defroster, and power adjustable mirrors.
2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk Exterior
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk has extra protective exterior equipment that isn’t available on the other Compass models. The extra equipment not only provides better off-road performance, but it also adds security. The Compass Trailhawk is equipped with a variety of skid plates to protect some of the vehicle’s most important vehicle components, like the transfer case and fuel tank. The Compass Trailhawk also has two tow hooks in the front and one tow hook in the rear, and both of them are red, which is the signature accent color for all of the Trailhawk models that are available on various Jeep models. Finally, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk also has a higher ground clearance and off-road angles than the other Compass models. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk has a ground clearance of 8.5 inches, a 30-degree approach angle, a 24-degree breakover angle, and a 34-degree departure angle.
