2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Highlights
One of the longest-lasting vehicles in the Jeep brand lineup, the Grand Cherokee, is notoriously known as the “Most Awarded SUV Ever.” The Grand Cherokee last had a major redesign in 2011, with changes since then mostly being tech- and powertrain-oriented only. For the 2019 model year Jeep now offers standard advanced safety features, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, and various wheel and trim packages available on the high-tier trims. Let’s break down what beloved features are staying and what new perks owners can enjoy on the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The 2019 Grand Cherokee offers buyers five different trims – Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit. Special models such as those under the SRT sub-brand and the high-performance Trackhawk will also be available.
Standard under the hood of the Grand Cherokee is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 290 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Limited, Overland, and Summit trims offer a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine capable of generating 240 horsepower and up to 420 lb-ft of torque. An optional upgrade is the 5.7-liter V8 engine that offers 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque and it’s available on all but the Laredo trim. All engines are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Grand Cherokee has both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations available.
When equipped with the 3.6-liter V6 and two-wheel-drive, the Grand Cherokee offers fuel economy ratings of 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway for a combined total of 21 mpg. The same engine, when paired with four-wheel-drive, has a fuel-economy rating of 18 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, with a 21 mpg combined. On the other hand, the 5.7 V8 engine offers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 14 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg combined.
Advanced multistage airbags, blind-spot monitoring, hill-start assist, parking-distance monitors, a rearview backup camera, trailer-sway control, and an anti-theft system are all standard safety features. There’s also an Active Safety Options group available that includes rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-departure warnings, braking assist, and full-speed forward-collision warnings.
Standard on all Grand Cherokee Laredo is a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen display complete with two USB ports, an auxiliary jack, a six-speaker audio system, 12-volt power outlets, and an off-road performance information display for 4×4 trims. Grand Cherokee Limited trims and above all come with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display that includes navigation, SiriusXM Satellite radio, and a 115-volt power outlet. Additional infotainment features include packages and standalone options that offer live traffic information, an Alpine premium audio system, or a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
