The 2019 Grand Cherokee offers 12 trims in its lineup and two drivetrains – 4×2 and 4×4. Trims available with either a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain are the following: Laredo, Laredo E, Upland, Altitude, Limited, Limited X, Overland, High Altitude, and Summit. Trailhawk, SRT, and Trackhawk trims are all available with a 4×4 drivetrain only. There is only one standard engine for all trims, no matter the drivetrain, with the exception of the SRT and Trackhawk trims. Under the hood of the majority of the lineup, buyers will find the classic 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that when paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission is capable of generating 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology and electric start-stop (ESS) work in tandem to optimize performance and conserve fuel economy. The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine capable of generating 360 horsepower is the perfect candidate for those seeking more power and is available as an optional upgrade on all 4×4 drivetrains (except the SRT and Trackhawk trims). High-tier trims such as the Grand Cherokee SRT are powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 under the hood offering a whopping 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It is the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk that reigns supreme thanks to its 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 engine that’s capable of generating an absurdly powerful 707 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds.
Jeep offers numerous off-road 4×4 systems when it comes to the Grand Cherokee, depending on the trim in the lineup. These 4×4 systems are only available on 4×4 drivetrains, which is perfect because every trim in the 2019 Grand Cherokee lineup is available with a 4×4 drivetrain. The Quadra-Trac I 4WD system (designed for all-weather capability and including the Selec-Terrain System) is standard on the Laredo, Laredo E, and Altitude trims. High-tier trims such as the Grand Cherokee Limited, Limited X, Trailhawk, Overland, High Altitude, and Summit are all designed with a two-speed transfer case to detect and correct tire slippage, while the Selec-Terrain Traction Control System lets drivers choose driving modes for driving in snow, sand, mud or rock. There’s also the Quadra-Trac II System for greater off-road capability thanks to its low range. The Trailhawk comes with Quadra-Trac II as well in addition to an electronic rear limited-slip differential for optimal off-road traction and capability. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is “Trail Rated Tough.” Quadra-Trac Active on Demand 4WD is the standard 4×4 system on the Grand Cherokee SRT and Trackhawk trims. It functions as a full-time 4×4 system that readily adapts no matter the driving conditions.
Buyers can enjoy lineup standards such as automatic on/off headlights, premium fog lamps, deep tint sunscreen glass to keep the cabin cool, heated outside mirrors, a tinted and acoustic windshield to reduce glare and noise while cruising, black claddings, and ParkSense rear park assist with stop. LED fog lamps are standard on the Altitude and Summit trims. High-tier trims offer high-tier features such as bi-xenon HID headlamps, platinum side roof rails, a rain-sensitive windshield wiper, tow hooks, a roof rack, rock rails, a power liftgate, and even an optional dual-pane panoramic sunroof. Select trims offer individual touches, such as the “Trail Rated” badge on the appropriate trims, or a blacked-out hood decal. The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers buyers ten different exterior colors to choose from: Olive Green, Diamond Black, Billet Silver, Bright White, Granite Crystal Metallic, Pearl White, Red Velvet, Hydro Blue, and Firecracker Red. Wheels sizes range from 17-20 inches while materials vary from polished aluminum, black satin, forged polish and many more.
Standard features on the 2019 Grand Cherokee include the usual 60/40 split-fold rear seat, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, rearview day/night mirror, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and luxury floor mats. Cloth is the upholstery of choice for the Laredo and Laredo E trims, but the brand offers supple leather upholstery for the rest of the lineup. Optional features include heated and ventilated front seats – both available as either upgrades or standard depending on the trim. Active noise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a heated steering wheel can all be found on the Altitude trim going forward. Prospective buyers can also enjoy other available personal touches such as red seat belts and a wood/leather-wrapped steering wheel on select trims.
The lineup standard for the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee features a 7-inch touchscreen display with the latest Uconnect 4 infotainment system. It includes Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities, as well as integrated voice-command with Bluetooth. A six-speaker audio system is standard on the Laredo, Laredo E, Upland, and Altitude trims, while the higher-tier Grand Cherokee trims enjoy a nine-speaker amplified system complete with a subwoofer. A 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system is standard on the Grand Cherokee Summit and is an available upgrade on the Overland, High Altitude, SRT, and Trackhawk trims as well. Select trims also have the ability to upgrade to an 8.4-inch touchscreen display complete with Uconnect 4C navigation.
