2019 Jeep Wrangler Highlights

March 19th, 2019 by

Iconic and lacking direct competition because of its extensive off-road capabilities, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler is a compact SUV that shines. As the Jeep brand’s longest running model, the Wrangler has competed indirectly with other random vehicles such as the Toyota 4Runner and midsize pickup trucks like the Chevy Colorado. After undergoing a complete overhaul in 2018 and introducing the JL-generation Wrangler, Jeep updated the safety packages and added paint colors for the 2019 model year.

Trims and Pricing

Just like in 2018, the 2019 Jeep Wrangler is available in four different trims: Sport, Sport S, Rubicon, and Sahara. There are numerous special editions that the Jeep brand releases throughout the year, such as the Rubicon Recon and Moab editions among others. The 2019 Jeep Wrangler has a starting MSRP of $29,450 (plus destination fee).

Standard under the hood of every Jeep Wrangler is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine capable of generating 285 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. There’s an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine for those looking for a bit more torque – 295 lb-ft of torque to be exact. A manual six-speed transmission is standard with the 3.-6-liter engine, while an eight-speed automatic is available as an upgrade. This same eight-speed automatic transmission is standard when the Wrangler is equipped with the four-cylinder engine instead. Jeep is slated to deliver a diesel engine option sometime during 2019, while a plug-in hybrid variant is supposed to arrive by 2022, although no figures or further information is available from the automaker just yet.

A backup camera, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, ParkSense Rear Park Assist system and hill-start assist are all standard safety features of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler. An Active Safety Package is available to make the journey as trouble-free as possible. The package includes blind-spot monitoring, full-speed forward collision warning with active braking, adaptive cruise control with an automatic transmission or enhanced adaptive cruise control with a six-speed manual transmission, and trailer sway control to make towing a breeze as the Wrangler automatically applies the brakes on alternating wheels and adjusts the engine throttle to maintain vehicle and trailer stability.

The Wrangler Sport and Sport S trims come standard with a 5-inch touchscreen display with the brand’s latest infotainment system, USB audio input, eight speakers, 12-volt power outlets, an auxiliary port, and Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities. A 7-inch touchscreen display (optional upgrade on the Sport S trim) is standard on the Rubicon and Sahara trims and includes two additional USB ports and a complimentary one-year SiriusXM Satellite radio subscription. There’s an 8.4-inch touchscreen display that includes navigation and is available for the highest-tier trims only.

Comfort and Convenience

A redesigned folding soft top with a sunroof feature is standard on the Sport and Sport S trims. Other options include a modular folding hardtop, a body-colored three-piece hardtop, and the all-new One Touch Sky Powetop – the first-ever power panoramic sliding roof system that works just like a convertible top and works with the push of a single button. Jeep also offers several packages, such as the cold-weather performance package that includes leather seating, heated seats, and steering wheel, there’s also a towing package and an off-road performance package to further enhance the 2019 Jeep Wrangler.
