2020 Chrysler Pacifica Buying Guide

April 3rd, 2020 by

The 2020 Chrysler Pacifica is one of the most popular minivans on the market, and the plug-in hybrid variant of the model is considered by experts to be even better. Comfortable, roomy, and stylish, the Pacifica is worth a double-take, even from folks who swore off minivans long ago. Not only is the Pacifica an excellent family hauler, but it also offers buyers so many standard and optional features that make life better for both drivers and passengers alike. Experts agree that the Chrysler Pacifica is a bold choice, choosing it over a lot of the new three-row crossovers plaguing the current market.

What’s new for 2020?

Chrysler dropped the L and LX trims for the 2020 model year, replacing them with an entry-level minivan with its own nameplate — the Chrysler Voyager. The Pacifica’s entry-level trim is now the Limited trim, starting at $35,240 (plus destination fee). Various trim levels get a few extra features for the 2020 model year, but there are no major appearance changes with the exception of the flashy Red S Appearance Package. The Red S Appearance Package is available on the Limited trims of both the Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid and features red and black Nappa leather upholstery, some red S emblems inside, blackout 20-inch alloy wheels (18-inch on the Hybrid), an advanced safety package, a Harman Kardon sound system, and grey contrast stitching and piping throughout. More significant changes are in store for the Pacifica later this year when the 2021 model launches, including the addition of all-wheel-drive and some refreshing design tweaks.

Technology and Infotainment

Chrysler is often lauded for its impressive Uconnect infotainment feature, and on the Pacifica, this is no exception. The Uconnect multimedia system is intuitive and responsive as it offers various modes of connectivity, including Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and wireless Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, when it comes to advanced safety features, the Pacifica has a number of helpful driver aids, including Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Monitoring among others. Additionally, the Pacifica also offers a rear-seat entertainment system consisting of flip-up touchscreens to watch movies or play interactive games. The Uconnect Theater is so advanced that passengers don’t have to watch or play the same thing if they don’t want to.

Performance & Fuel Economy

The Pacifica is powered by a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, producing up to 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy ratings place the Pacifica at 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. On the Pacifica Hybrid buyers will find the same engine, only it’s paired to a dual-motor electrically variable transmission. The Pacifica Hybrid is EPA-rated at 82 miles-per-gallon equivalent while operating on gas and electric with a fully charged battery, and at 30 mpg combined when running on gas only.
