Engine & Trims
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee lineup offers buyers two different drivetrain options — front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive — which can then be configured with three different engine options. Front-wheel drive 2020 Cherokee models include the following trims: Latitude, Latitude Plus, Altitude, Limited, and High Altitude, while those who opt for all-wheel drive (4×4) can also choose from the following trims: Upland, Trailhawk, and Trailhawk Elite. Front-wheel drive 2020 Cherokee vehicles are powered by a 2.4-liter Inline Four-Cylinder engine with electric start-stop (ESS) technology. Optional engines on the aforementioned trims, and standard beginning with the High Altitude trim, is a 3.2-liter V6 24-valve engine with variable valve timing technology (VVT), capable of 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque. The 3.2-liter V6 is also standard on the Upland, Trailhawk, and Trailhawk Elite trims. There’s another engine, the 2.0-liter DOHC turbocharged engine that generates 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, that’s optional on all trims minus the Latitude and Upland trims.
4×4 Systems & Towing
Every 2020 Jeep Cherokee vehicle, regardless of trim, comes standard with 2,000-pound towing capacity on front-wheel-drive and 4,500-pound towing capacity on 4×4 drivetrains. The Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite trims come with the Active Drive II 4×4 system, a system that not only includes all the features of the Active Drive I system, but also adds a low range mode and a neutral mode for additional capability. This system also includes Active Drive Lock 4×4, which engages a mechanical rear axle lock and an exclusive Rock mode designed for the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System.

Exterior Features
Standard on the 2020 Jeep Cherokee, regardless of trim, are automatic on/off headlamps, fog lamps, heated exterior mirrors, and LED daytime running headlamps. Automatic high beam headlamps control is available as an upgrade on the Limited and High Altitude trims. All trims — except for the Latitude and Upland trims — come with exterior mirrors with turn signals, while a fun sunroof remains an optional feature on all trims. Depending on the trim, the 2020 Jeep Cherokee comes standard with either 17-, 18, or 19-inch wheels.
Interior Features
The best features are saved for the high-tier trims such as the Limited, High Altitude, and Trailhawk Elite trims, which offer buyers perks such as automatic temperature control, heated front seats, a power liftgate, and a heated steering wheel. Ventilated seats are reserved for the top-tier Trailhawk Elite trim. Standard features include a rear 40/60 split-folding seat, cargo tie-down loops, and rear seat heat ducts. All trims except the base Latitude trim come with a leather-wrapped shift knob and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The Trailhawk, Limited and Trailhawk Elite trims feature a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen display, while the High Altitude trim not only enjoys the larger screen size, but it’s also got the latest Uconnect 4C infotainment system.
