2022 Jeep Cherokee
Always a winner when it comes to SUVs, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee offers both lifestyle design and off-road prowess. Buyers can count on the 2022 Cherokee to go where other competitor SUVs can’t. Additionally, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee can also pull more than its peers thanks to its 4500-lbs max-towing capacity.
Avail. Engine Type
The 2022 Jeep Cherokee is available in five different trims: Altitude, Latitude LUX, Limited, Trailhawk, and X, and comes with either front-wheel drive or one of Jeep’s iconic 4×4 systems. There’s a standard 2.4-liter inline-four engine, joined by an optional 3.2-liter V6, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder as well. All engines are mated to an automatic nine-speed transmission. The 2022 Jeep Cherokee doesn’t shy away from numerous off-road options. Active Drive I – a full-time 4×4 system that sends torque to all four wheels when conditions deem it necessary. It comes standard on the Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Latitude LUX and Altitude trims. For the adventurous Jeepers out there, the top-tier 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and X trims offer Jeep’s Active Drive II – a 4×4 system that includes the active Drive I system with a low range and an additional neutral mode for added capability. Buyers also have numerous levels of towing capability thanks to the 3 available engines. The standard engine is rated to tow up to 2000 lbs, the turbocharged engine up to 4000 lbs, and the V6 up to 4500 lbs.
What’s New for 2022?
For 2022, Jeep slims down its trim options, but introduces an all-new top-tier X trim. Not only does the 2022 Cherokee X feature unique exterior graphics and special seat inserts, the Cherokee X also comes standard with a 1.0-inch suspension lift and heftier all-terrain tires. Every 2022 Cherokee model regardless of trim comes standard with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and SiriusXM satellite radio, replacing the old standard 7.0-inch infotainment display. The Latitude Lux trim also offers buyers new standard features, including a 7.0-inch gauge-cluster display, a 115-volt power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more.
All 2022 Jeep Cherokee vehicles achieve uniformity, with some trims adding tow hooks and other aggressive exterior accents as the only variations. LED daytime running headlamps, high beams, fog lamps, heated exterior mirrors, solar control glass and automatic on/off headlamps are standard features with front-wheel drive. The impressive CommandView dual-pane panoramic sunroof is available on all trims but the Cherokee Latitude – the base trim. The Cherokee Limited and X trims get a little more luxurious with exterior mirrors complete with memory and turn signals.
The 2022 Jeep Cherokee borrows some of its interior design from the larger Grand Cherokee model. Not only is the cabin practical and comfortable, it also features an innovative dashboard that feels larger and more expensive than it is. The Jeep Cherokee X borrows from Jeep luxury and includes 19-inch Crystal Granite wheels, leather upholstery with contrast stitching, a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen display, a panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable front seats. Other high-tier trims, such as the Limited and Trailhawk, feature similar accents and perks.
Universally acknowledged as one of the best in the business, the Jeep Cherokee comes with the standard Uconnect infotainment system. Starting with the Latitude LUX trim, every Cherokee comes with two USB ports for use by the rear-seat passengers. Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities are standard on every Cherokee vehicle and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot is available, as are Amazon Alexa services. Audiophiles can enjoy an available Alpine Premium Audio System with a 506-watt amplifier, nine speakers, and an 8-inch subwoofer.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2022 Jeep Cherokee comes equipped with a total of seven airbags, including front-impact airbags, side-impact airbags, inflatable knee airbags, and overhead airbags. Jeep offers buyers a slew of standard advanced safety features in the name of driver-assistance, including Lane-departure Warning with Lane-keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Forward-collision Warning and Automated Emergency Braking.
