2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Revamped for 2022, the Grand Cherokee enters 2023 as a multifaceted SUV that’s taken the segment by storm for more than 30 years. The 2023 Grand Cherokee retains its off-roading chops and trail-busting capabilities thanks to varied powertrains, including a V6, V8, and a 4xe plug-in hybrid system.

Engine Type

Much like the previous-generation Grand Cherokee, the 2023 model is powered by either a 3.6-liter V6 (to the tune of 293 horsepower) or a 5.7-liter HEMI V8. Jeep does also offer the Grand Cherokee 4xe, powered by the brand’s exclusive plug-in hybrid powertrain, composed of an electric traction motor and a 2.0-liter inline-four engine. When it comes to prowess, the Grand Cherokee 4xe is unmatched thanks to its 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. While V6-powered Grand Cherokee comes standard with rear-wheel drive, all V8-powered or 4xe-powered Grand Cherokee vehicles come with all-wheel drive. Jeep notoriously offers buyers various all-wheel drive systems, including some with an electronically locking limited-slip differential.

What’s New for 2023?

Following a full redesign in 2022, it’s hard to find what Jeep could add to its Grand Cherokee lineup to make it even better. However, the 2023 Grand Cherokee does see a few changes, including to the top-tier Grand Cherokee Trailhawk trim that’s only offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain going forward. Mid-tier trims, like the Limited and Overland, now come standard with a 10.1-inch infotainment display. The Limited trim now comes with a standalone nine-speaker Alpine stereo system as an option, while the highly-lauded 19-speaker McIntosh stereo is available on the Overland and Summit trims.

Exterior Features

On the outside, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been reimagined and updated for the model year. Buyers can now have a tapered roof that enhances the model’s aerodynamics without reducing the vehicle’s overall room. Additionally, Jeep also redesigned the front fascia to include modern LED lighting, as well as on the interior to further amplify the SUV’s luxurious feel. Buyers can choose from the following exterior shades: Hydro Blue, Midnight Sky, Velvet Red Pearl Coat, Diamond Black Crystal Pearl Coat, and many more.

Interior Features

With the interior no longer considered dated, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers buyers a modernized cabin with more than just the essentials. The entry-level Laredo trim provides buyers with basic amenities, but the Summit and Overland trims are considerably much more upscale and add luxurious touches of quilted upholstery, high-tech digital displays, and open-pore wood trimmings. While the Grand Cherokee is a standard two-row SUV, Jeep does offer the Grand Cherokee L for buyers seeking a third row.

When it comes to infotainment, the 2023 Grand Cherokee reigns supreme thanks to its standard 8.4-inch (or optional 10.1-inch) touchscreen display. Buyers can count on Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto connectivity, as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio access (thanks to a complimentary one-year membership), optional in-dash Navigation services when properly equipped, as well as weather updates. High-tier trims, such as the Summit and Summit Reserve, come standard with a digital gauge cluster, a 10.1-inch head-up display, and an additional 10.3-inch touchscreen that’s reserved for the front-seat passenger and features Amazon Fire TV capabilities as well. A six-speaker stereo system is standard on the Laredo and Limited trims, but buyers have the option to upgrade to the nine-speaker Alpine Audio setup that’s standard on higher-tier trims, or go all out for the impressive 19-speaker McIntosh sound system that’s designed to please audiophiles.

Safety Features and Warranty

Jeep is aware advanced safety features are an attractive selling point for customers and the automaker has made great strides in expanding its standard safety features, as well as deepening some of the existing safety packages. All Jeep vehicles are covered by a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty, a 5-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for five years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through coverage for five years or 100,000, whichever comes first.
