2024 Jeep Gladiator to See Substantial Upgrades

Although Jeep has yet to unveil its 2024 Gladiator model, there is speculation the model might undergo a mid-cycle refresh, similar to the already-announced updates for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler. Given that the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator share their identity in terms of aesthetics, off-road prowess and underpinnings, the pickup will likely follow suit in terms of updates, aligning both models once more.
Rumor has it that Stellantis will introduce two new vehicles during the upcoming 2023 Detroit Auto Show, also recognized as the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Given Stellantis’ extensive portfolio of diverse brands, the possibility of a new vehicle lining up with a Jeep release is pretty even. Prospective unveilings down the line could include the new Gladiator, the rumored Dodge Stealth, rumored Ram Dakota, or even an electric Jeep model. Considering the close association between the Gladiator and the Jeep Wrangler, it’s conceivable that the updates for the Gladiator were relatively straightforward to finalize in time for the September (2023) show. Recent modifications on the 2024 Wrangler included a shorter grille design to accommodate an optional factory-installed warn winch, an integrated windshield-mounted radio antenna, the introduction of a waterproof 12-way power seat, augmented sound insulation materials, and the addition of a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
Potential Powertrains
While official specifications are unknown, anticipation is high for the unveiling of a possible 2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe. A Gladiator 4xe could potentially mark a groundbreaking milestone as the first plug-in hybrid truck to enter the market–and Jeep is overdue to reclaim some of the midsize pickup segment. According to insider reports, the release of the Gladiator 4xe was postponed to sync its release with the mid-cycle refresh of the Jeep Wrangler.
The current Jeep Wrangler 4xe pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors and a battery pack, collectively producing an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain grants the Wrangler 4xe the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 5.5 seconds. With an EPA-estimated electric range of 21 miles on a single charge, the 2024 Wrangler 4xe features up to 49 MPGe. Furthermore, the Wrangler 4xe boasts a commendable total driving range of 370 miles between refills. Considering the possible (and future) Gladiator 4xe, it is reasonable to assume the model will be presented as a premium engine option, while the existing standard engine is expected to stay. The current standard powerplant on the Jeep Gladiator is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Additionally, the turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 engine delivers 260 horsepower and an impressive 442 pound-feet of torque. However, it is worth noting that the diesel engine was discontinued for the 2024 Wrangler, implying a potential similar fate for the upcoming Gladiator as well.
Pricing
Given its wide array of standard features, the Gladiator has a starting price that’s sometimes higher than some full-size trucks on en entirely different level. Standard 4×4, as well as high resale value, and customization options make the Jeep Gladiator a pickup worth owning. Additional details on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator should be revealed soon as Jeep gears up and readies its lineup for another model year.
