Advanced Safety Features Make the 2020 Renegade a Top Safety Pick

December 12th, 2019 by

The 2020 Jeep Renegade is the entry-level SUV to beat thanks to its Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). There are some specific features that earned the Renegade the accolade, including Forward Collision Warning-Plus, LED projector headlamps with optional high-beam control, and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) technology. Additionally, only Jeep Renegade vehicles manufactured after September of this year (2019) have earned the IIHS distinction.

The available advanced safety features mentioned earlier are part of the more than 70 standard and available security and safety features. Additionally, the Renegade is the first in its segment to offer Forward Collision Warning-Plus and LaneSense Departure warning-Plus. Small, but mighty is a great way to describe the 2020 Jeep Renegade.

“The Jeep stable of SUVs continues to be recognized for superior on- and off-road performance and the addition of many available advanced technology, safety and security features,” said Jim Morrison, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA North America. “With more than 70 advanced safety and security features paired with benchmark 4×4 systems, Jeep Renegade provides drivers with the confidence to handle any adventure, in any weather condition.”

The IIHS rated the Renegade’s optional Forward Collision Warning-Plus feature as “superior,” the highest possible rating when it comes to crash prevention features evaluated by the IIHS. The system is designed to warn the driver to take action and avoid a collision. In the case that the driver fails to react accordingly, the system will automatically activate the brakes in the hopes of avoiding a collision.

Another feature contributing to the Renegade’s Top Safety Pick rating? It’s got available LED projector headlamps with automatic high-beam control, adding another safety measure to the Renegade. Automatic high-beam control switches headlamp modes between high- and low-beam function without the driver’s input and depending on traffic conditions. Additionally, the Renegade earned “good” results — the highest possible rating — in five other crashworthiness tests.

The 2020 Renegade offers buyers a fresh spin on the brand’s iconic bold styling. Seating choices are paired with crafted interior materials, plenty of storage solutions and the latest technologies like Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. The latest Uconnect system is also standard, keeping occupants connected and entertained — just the way it should be! Engine options range from a standard 1.3-liter Four-Cylinder with a fuel efficiency of 32 highway mpg and an available 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with 29 highway mpg.
