Breaking Down the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Trims

For the first time in its storied history, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is going to offer buyers a third row in the form of the all-new Grand Cherokee L. All-new architecture and an all-new interior help the Grand Cherokee L make quite the entrance into the full-size SUV segment. The all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L offers buyers one of the most advanced high-tech vehicles coupled with unmatched 4×4 capability, premium styling, and superior on-road refinement — all starting at $36,995 (plus destination fee). The lineup consists of four trims: Laredo, Limited, Overland and Summit.

“For 80 years, the Jeep brand has consistently introduced exceptional vehicles that set the benchmark for capability and authenticity, including the debut of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which set the standard for what is expected of a modern SUV. the all-new Grand Cherokee L continues to break barriers and push boundaries by ramping up its legendary 4×4 capability, adding a third row of seating for the first time, delivering even more premium on-road manners, and providing the safest and advanced technology features in its class,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America. 

2021 Grand Cherokee L Laredo

The 2021 Grand Cherokee L Laredo starts at $36,995 (rear-wheel drive) and $38,995 (4×4), plus destination fee. The Laredo trim features a spacious interior cabin that’s clad in premium materials and next-generation technologies, such as a standard 10-inch infotainment display across the instrument panel. There’s also a 10.25-inch digital cluster screen that offers more than two dozen menus for customization and driver personalization. Additionally, this trim is the first Grand Cherokee trim to feature the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system that offers a customizable home screen, five user profiles, and standard Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto connectivity.  

Designed with optimal comfort in mind, the Grand Cherokee L Laredo delivers unsurpassed third-row capacity, class-leading legroom in the second row, and increased cargo volume. Premium seating can accommodate up to seven passengers, with the second row equipped with standard “tip and slide” bucket seats that can be easily shifted and moved to allow entry into the third row. The following advanced safety features come standard: Full Speed Collision Warning with active brake and pedestrian/cycle detection, active lane management, Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, rear park assist sensors, Blind-spot Monitoring, advanced brake assist, and much more. This trim is powered by the classic 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that generates 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. 

2021 Grand Cherokee L Limited

The Grand Cherokee L Limited trim builds upon the Laredo trim with the addition of 4×4 drivetrain and the class-leading Selec-Terrain traction management system. Drivers can choose from five available terrain modes — Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, Mud/Sand and adapt to any driving conditions both on- and off-road. The interior of the Limited trim improves with standard Capri leather seats and convenience features such as a power eight-way driver seat with memory and power four-way driver/front-passenger lumbar adjuster with memory, and a heated steering wheel.

Other standard features include a universal garage door opener, an adjustable-height power liftgate, and remote start. The Limited trim comes standard with a six-speaker audio sound system that includes active noise cancellation and single-door ambient lighting for the front and rear doors along with the instrument panel. Exterior features include new premium LED fog lamps, power Gloss Black mirrors with the heating element, memory and supplemental turn signals, and automatic high-beam headlamps

2021 Grand Cherokee L Overland

The Overland trim comes with performance in mind. Although a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is the standard, buyers can opt for the available V8 engine that generates 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque with a class-leading towing capacity up to 7,200 pounds. Jeep’s Quadra Trac II system shines on the Overland trim as it adds torque distribution and continuously corrects the vehicle if any tire slippage occurs. When Quadra Trac II detects any wheel slippage it automatically engages as much as 100% of available torque to the axle with the most available traction. Comfort amenities include a Nappa leather interior, ventilated front seats, upgraded Uconnect 5 with Navigation, a premium Alpine 9-speaker audio sound system with a subwoofer and amplifier, and a leather-stitched instrument panel. 

The exterior of the SUV builds with available 20-inch aluminum wheels with Black Noise pockets, chrome front tow hooks, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rearview mirror puddle lighting, windshield wiper de-icer, Gloss Black roof rack with Bright Stainless insert, trailer towing, a unique Overland appearance and much more. A power-folding third-row bench is standard, while owners can also enjoy a new electronic remote release in the rear cargo area that folds the second row flat without much effort. Other unique features rounding out the perks include a hands-free, foot-activated adjustable power liftgate and a CommandView dual-pane sunroof with a power sunshade — available for the first time on the Grand Cherokee L. 

2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit

As the top-tier Grand Cherokee L trim, the Summit brings forth not only luxury but peak capability as well. Clad in premium materials and equipped with class-exclusive features, the 2021 Grand Cherokee L Summit is a state-of-the-art SUV. Nappa leather seats with quilted seat bolster, Absolute Oak accents, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Berber floor mats, and first-row seats with new power 16-way adjustable position with memory and lumbar settings are all standard on the Summit trim. As if those features aren’t luxurious enough, Jeep also added for the first time a front-row seat massage that includes up to five customizable profiles with varying levels of pressure intensity. 

The Summit trim takes climate control to new heights with a new four-zone automatic temperature control system that can detect different fan levels and modes for individual passengers in the first and second rows. Exterior additions include 20-inch polished cast-aluminum wheels in Mid-Gloss Clear, Summit-specific LED fog lamps, illuminated door sills, a roof rack with Fine Silver rails and Gloss Black insert, a new 360-degree camera, and power-folding multifunction Gloss black mirrors with a Platinum insert.
