Car and Driver Awards Highlight the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler Pacifica
Car and Driver honored both Jeep and Chrysler by selecting several vehicles from each respective lineup for the publication’s 2023 Annual Editors’ Choice honors list. The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica made the list for the seventh consecutive year, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L made their respective list for a second consecutive year.

2023 Chrysler Pacifica
While the Chrysler Pacifica may never get the credit it deserves for maintaining its family-friendly style in the age of SUVs, it remains atop its segment due to its utility, available features, practicality and more. Available in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive, as well as a plug-in hybrid variant, the 2023 Pacifica isn’t in the business of cutting corners. A standard 287 horsepower V6 engine rests under the hood –a modified Atkinson Cycle version powers the hybrid, but all are mated to the same nine-speed automatic transmission. The combination is a good one as the Pacifica strikes the perfect fuel efficiency balance even while on the highway.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Revamped for 2022, the Grand Cherokee enters 2023 as a multifaceted SUV that’s taken the segment by storm for more than 30 years. The 2023 Grand Cherokee retains its off-roading chops and trail-busting capabilities thanks to varied powertrains, including a V6, V8, and a 4xe plug-in hybrid system. Much like the previous-generation Grand Cherokee, the 2023 model is powered by either a 3.6-liter V6 (to the tune of 293 horsepower) or a 5.7-liter HEMI V8. Jeep does also offer the Grand Cherokee 4xe, powered by the brand’s exclusive plug-in hybrid powertrain, composed of an electric traction motor and a 2.0-liter inline-four engine.
2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
For 2023, Jeep offers the Jeep Grand Cherokee L with all of the perks of the lauded Grand Cherokee with an additional third row of seating. Beneath the hood lies a standard V6 engine, but Jeep does offer buyers a 375-horsepower V8 engine as an upgrade. It’s the perfect choice for drivers who want a little more grunt from their three-row SUV. Equipped with Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4-wheel-drive system, the Grand Cherokee L can take on even the most rugged terrain. Having an electronic limited-slip differential, as well as real skid plates, certainly helps.
