The Chrysler brand is commemorating a remarkable four decades as the pioneer and trailblazer in family mobility, signifying 40 years of pioneering the minivan segment, which was originally introduced by the former Chrysler Corporation. This milestone coincides with the commencement of production today for the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid at the Windsor Assembly plant located in Ontario.

The inaugural minivan, a Plymouth Voyager, made its debut at the Windsor Assembly on November 2, 1983, entering the market as a 1984 model. This marked the beginning of a legacy that has seen over 15 million Stellantis minivans sold to date. As the trailblazers in introducing the minivan and having advanced through six generations of this vehicle, Stellantis has pioneered 117 minivan innovations, leading the way in evolving technologies and features that propel the segment into the future while enhancing the lives of owners and their families.

“For 40 years, Stellantis minivans have been along for the ride helping families and road-trippers create a lifetime of unforgettable moments. Many of today’s consumers first experienced the road in a Chrysler minivan, and we’re proud that four decades later, a new generation is making their own memories in a Chrysler Pacifica or Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid. As the Chrysler brand moves forward to an all-electric portfolio in 2028, the minivan will continue to play an important role in our vehicle lineup,” said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand CEO – Stellantis.
