Chrysler Pacifica vs. Honda Odyssey – Minivan Battle Royale

Minivans hardly get the recognition they deserve. What’s not to love? They’re spacious, comfortable, convenient and well, they even seem to make temper tantrums a bit more tolerable. The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2018 Honda Odyssey are two of the most popular minivans because both are exceptional options, but they differ in many ways, let’s take a closer look …

2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Sure, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is still a minivan – however, the Pacifica’s curvaceous and sophisticated front end design as well as its luxurious cabin don’t make it feel like a plain old minivan. The interior offers an upscale feel due to those top-of-the-line amenities like the Stow ‘n Go Seating and Storage System and the Stow ‘n Go Assist that provides easy access to the in-floor bins. BUT WAIT…THERE’S MORE! Behold, the Stow n’ Vac! A favorite for most drivers who have athletic kids, the Stow n’ Vac is the most powerful vacuum in the FCA US LLC Premium Minivan Segment and extends throughout the entire Pacifica cabin. The Pacifica also comes equipped with Hands-free power sliding doors and liftgate to take multitasking to new lengths.

The Chrysler Pacifica is also a fuel efficient minivian, especially when considering the available plug-in hybrid electric option, the Pacifica Hybrid. The Pacifica Hybrid is the only PHEV minivan available in the market, and Green Car Reports named the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid the Best Car To Buy in 2018. According to Green Car Reports, the Pacifica Hybrid not only offers all the virtues of the well-received Chrysler Pacifica, it also offers substantial real-world electronic range – 30 miles or more in most cases – and much better fuel economy when operating as a hybrid.

2018 Honda Odyssey

The 2018 Honda Odyssey is another impressive minivan option. While taking a similar  approach with a modern exterior design, the 2018 Honda Odyssey has a more conservative interior design. Another similar feature is the seating system. The Honda Odyssey offers a Sliding Seat System that allows users to move the second row seats across the cabin for a more spacious and flexible layout, but the center console has to be removed and the railing can be a hazard, too.

A pretty cool feature that the Honda Odyssey offers is the Cabin Watch and Cabin Talk. The Cabin Watch allows parents to keep an eye on the kids even in the dark and the Cabin Talk works as a p.a. system to keep those noisy kids at bay. The Odyssey only offers a single drop down screen compared to that Pacifica’s dual entertainment system. Thankfully, the in-car vacuum and surround-view camera system made it to the 2018 Honda Odyssey.

Bottom line, this was a close one. If buyers are looking for a minivan that’s fun to drive – the Odyssey might be a good choice. On the other hand, if a buyer is looking for luxury while not breaking the bank, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica might be a winner. If saving gas and money as well as the ozone layer, the Pacifica Hybrid is the only option! Interested in taking the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica for a test drive?
