Chrysler Reportedly Working on 300 EV Successor

According to the rumor mill, Chrysler is apparently working on a successor to its outgoing 300 model–an electric vehicle variant that’s sure to grab headlines. Mopar Insiders reports that a replacement for the Chrysler 300 sedan was shown to some dealers at a private company event in Las Vegas. Unnamed dealer sources claim the 300 successor resembles the design of a vehicle shown at Stellantis’ 2021 EV Day Presentation. Throughout that presentation there was a graphic of a fastback sedan complete with a floor-mounted battery. Attendees of the private event claim the car shows similarities to the recently-unveiled Dodge Charger Daytona EV as well.
For the time being, details are scarce. There’s no telling whether the upcoming 300 replacement will share any characteristics with the new Charger EV, but its underpinnings may be the same as Stellantis vowed to share EV platforms across the board. The current 300 shares its chassis with the existing gasoline-powered Charger already, so it’s likely Chrysler will follow in the same footsteps once more. While developing an entirely new vehicle would be a breakthrough for Chrysler, the platform sharing implemented by parent company Stellantis is in place to help lower costs over several models. The Chrysler Airflow EV, the crossover the brand’s already publicly displayed, is rumored to enter production in 2024. If an EV replacement of the 300 is really in the works, it’ll likely follow once the Airflow production takes off.
