Hollywood Chrysler Jeep Chrysler 300 Successor Concept

Chrysler, like many other automakers, wants to go electric by the end of the decade (2030), but the classic American automaker is hoping to bring its first sedan EV to market a little early–by 2028. Reportedly the Chrysler 300 model will either be electrified or be used as the base to inspire Chrysler’s future models. Additionally, Chrysler continues to work on its Airflow concept car, hoping to bring the all-electric SUV to market by 2025. The Airflow concept itself is not destined for the production line as is, so enthusiasts will probably get a few updates along the way as Chrysler perfects its upcoming SUV. The successor to the Chrysler 300 is expected to debut in 2026 and officially hit the streets by 2028.

Chrysler’s electric 300 successor is rumored to offer up to 500 miles of range, meaning the model will likely ride on the STLA Large platform, one of the four platforms being developed by parent company Stellantis. Additionally, the model will also borrow from a Dodge brand EV that’s due in 2024 as well. Dodge is aiming to launch an electric muscle car in 2024; the concept slated for preview later this year (2022). Stellantis announced in its investor presentation last year (2021) that the STLA Large platform is specifically designed for vehicles that measure 186 inches in length. Additional details mentioned the platform would run on an 800-volt system with support batteries up to 118 kWh in size, enabling high-speed charging. Electric motors designed to be paired with the platform vary in size and output, ranging from 201-442 horsepower.

Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell has commented in interviews that the brand will continue to have a presence in the large sedan segment, hinting that the Chrysler 300 will live on as an EV model. Feuell, who was appointed to lead Chrysler in the fall of 2021, has her work cut out for her. Chrysler has offered just two models in its lineup for years and the brand needs to innovate if it’s to survive the electrification of the automotive industry. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares announced last year during the very same investors’ meeting that every brand under the Stellantis umbrella, including Chrysler, has a 10-year investment commitment.

2022 Chrysler 300

Some things get better with age and the Chrysler 300 is no exception. Although the four-door sedan segment isn’t what it used to be as SUVs and crossovers encroached on the entire automotive sphere, the Chrysler 300 continues to occupy a rare place. A standard V6 powertrain coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission is what buyers can expect from the 2022 Chrysler 300, but the 300S trim also adds a V8 option, giving the sedan a sportier appeal. Inside the Chrysler 300 consumers enjoy a comfortable and luxurious cabin that doesn’t leave them wanting.

Soldiering on for another model year without any major design changes, the Chrysler 300 does come standard with a new N96 cabin filter and the added Comfort Group Package option on the Touring L and 300S trims. Additionally, Chrysler also added a new security alarm for the 2022 model year. Experts recommend the Touring L trim as it seamlessly blends comfort and convenience. Buyers also have the option of choosing between rear- or all-wheel drive. The Comfort Group Package is also highly recommended because it adds a certain level of plushness to the luxurious sedan.
