Here’s What the Future of Chrysler Holds

Like many other automakers, Chrysler wants to go electric by the end of the decade (2030). Still, the classic American automaker is hoping to bring its first sedan EV to market a little early–by 2028. Reportedly the Chrysler 300 model will either be electrified or be used as the base to inspire Chrysler’s future models. Additionally, Chrysler continues to work on its Airflow concept car, hoping to bring the all-electric SUV to market by 2025. The Airflow concept itself is not destined for the production line as is, so enthusiasts will probably get a few updates along the way as Chrysler perfects its upcoming SUV. The successor to the Chrysler 300 is expected to debut in 2026 and officially hit the streets by 2028.
Chrysler’s electric 300 successor is rumored to offer up to 500 miles of range, meaning the model will likely ride on the STLA Large platform, one of the four platforms developed by parent company Stellantis. Additionally, the model will borrow from a Dodge brand EV that’s due in 2024 as well. Dodge aims to launch an electric muscle car in 2024; the concept is slated for preview later this year (2022). Stellantis announced during its investor presentation last year (2021) that the STLA Large platform is specifically designed for vehicles that measure 186 inches in length.
Further details mentioned the platform will run on an 800-volt system, complete with support batteries up to 118 kWh in size, thus enabling high-speed charging. Electric motors destined to be paired with the platform vary in size and output, ranging from 201-442 horsepower.
Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell has commented in interviews that the brand will continue to have a presence in the large sedan segment, hinting that the Chrysler 300 will live on as an EV model. Feuell, appointed to lead Chrysler in the fall of 2021, has her work cut out. Chrysler has offered just two models in its lineup for years, and the brand needs to innovate to survive the automotive industry’s electrification process. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares announced last year during the same investors’ meeting that every brand under the Stellantis umbrella, including Chrysler, has a 10-year investment commitment at a minimum.
2023 Chrysler 300C
Powered by a potent 6.4-L HEMI engine, the 2023 Chrysler 300C will be a limited-production run vehicle with only 2,000 units manufactured for the U.S. and another 200 units destined for Canada. America’s most prominent and boldest sedan gets even more significant and spirited thanks to its 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, bringing the model from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.3 seconds. The 2023 Chrysler 300C can reach a top speed of 160 mph and cover the quarter-mile in just 12.4 seconds. The HEMI engine is paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that optimizes fuel economy without sacrificing power. Other performance features of the 2023 Chrysler 300C include:
- Four-piston Brembo brakes.
- Active damping suspension.
- Black rounded exhaust tips add a menacing look and give the vehicle’s exhaust a throaty sound.
