Jeep 2019 Lineup Highlights
While journalists clamored for the latest automotive feats from the likes of Volkswagen and Ford, it was Jeep who stood tall at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show thanks to its latest lineup of new and updated SUVs. How exactly is the brand positioning itself to compete in this model year? Easy, they manufacture one of the hottest brands for one of the hottest segments of the automotive market. SUVs, crossovers, and pickups are all the rage right now as passenger sedans continue to lose their footing. Improved fuel efficiency and hybrid offerings have continuously contributed to the rise of these once gas-guzzling utility vehicles as they make them much more attractive to own. Now that drivers can have the best of both worlds, what does the Jeep lineup look like for Jeep in 2019?
An absolute blast in the Jeep lineup with improved fuel efficiency and updated modern features since its redesign in 2018. The standard under the hood is a classic 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 285 horsepower, but buyers can also upgrade to a 2.0-liter inline-four eTorque engine with 270 horsepower. The eTorque mild hybrid system paired up with the inline four engine gives the Wrangler a significant boost – 33 percent to be exact – in MPGs. Also improved on the latest generation Wrangler are the roof panels options which range from the classic soft top, the freedom panel hardtop, and the all-new one-touch option that retracts the roof like a convertible (even while driving at 60 mph).
Introduced at the 2018 LA Auto Show, the Gladiator is the brand’s latest foray into the trucking segment. Wrangler-inspired and aiming to bridge the gap between fun and function in a pickup, the Gladiator will be rolling out across dealer lots during the second quarter of 2019. Jeep hopes to attract new buyers (both weekend warriors and DIYers alike) with the Gladiator’s work and play capabilities – complete with removable doors and tops, along with off-road prowess and even best-in-class towing and a respectable payload.
The Cherokee recently got a facelift, starting with the front of the vehicle that sports new headlights, doing away with the narrow, smaller headlamp that was on the last Cherokee model design. Also new on the Cherokee is a brand new engine choice – a 2.0-liter turbo four engine that boasts strong performance to maintain the vehicle’s unique power, stylish comfort, and off-road capabilities. The new engine is paired with a TorqueFlite nine-speed transmission that’s got revamped software to allow for more refined shifting and better handling while driving.
The brand’s flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee, comes loaded with the latest infotainment and convenience features. High-quality materials grace the cabin and make it a true escape from the outside world, while the unique exterior design gives other luxury SUVs a run for their money. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross path detection will come standard on every single 2019 Grand Cherokee regardless of the trim. The Limited X trim is brand new and comes outfitted with features such as a nine-speaker sound system, active noise canceling, Heritage perforated seats and other unique interior finishes.
Not many changes are coming to the 2019 Jeep Compass whose last redesign was in 2017. Standard on the Compass as of 2019 is a 7-inch touchscreen display. The latest redesign saw the Compass get a bump in horsepower and fuel efficiency, a revamped and bulkier exterior design, more standard safety features, and an updated Uconnect infotainment system complete with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities.
The entry-level Jeep receives a small revamping for the 2019 model year, with the major changes happening under the hood. For 2019 the Renegade now offers an all-new 1.3-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine with engine stop-start (ESS) technology mated to an automatic nine-speed transmission. This newest engine improves fuel efficiency while effortless providing 177 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque, making the Renegade small but mighty! On the outside, the Renegade has a revamped front fascia and grille surround, aluminum wheel designs, optional 19-inch aluminum Granite Crystal-colored wheel options, and an LED lighting group that includes LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, cornering fog lamps, and tail lamps.
