Jeep Celebrates 30 Years of the Grand Cherokee With an Anniversary Edition
Jeep is going all out for the 30th anniversary of its iconic Grand Cherokee model. Given that the occasion calls for a celebration, Jeep debuted the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
“When the original Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted in 1992 by famously crashing through the glass at Cobo Hall, it literally shattered expectations and redefined what a premium SUV could be. Three decades later and more than 7 million Grand Cherokees sold, the most-awarded SUV ever is still forging new ground with the electrified plug-in-hybrid 4xe model. The Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition underscores how far the Grand Cherokee has come and is yet another example of the Jeep brand’s goal to be the electrification leader in SUVs,” said Jim Morrison, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep North America.
Representing the most technologically advanced and 4×4-capable Jeep Grand Cherokee yet, the 4xe 30th Anniversary edition offers drivers up to 25 miles of all-electric range and 56 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe). The Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition features a powertrain that delivers 375 horsepower and up to 470 lb-ft of torque, with a max towing rating of up to 6,000 pounds.
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition features external design cues such as a blacked-out exterior, a modified front fascia, dual pane sunroof, dual exhaust, new 20-inch black wheels, a body-color rear fascia, special edition badging, lower moldings, wheel flares, and sill claddings. Jeep wasn’t skimpy with the interior either, adding features such as black Capri leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a nine-speaker Alpine audio sound system, navigation with 3D graphics, wireless Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto connectivity, and a wireless charging pad as well.
Additional standard features of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition include front/rear park assist, a digital rearview mirror, Intersection Collision Assist, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and passive entry. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 30th Anniversary edition is an add-on package with a starting MSRP of $4,700. Orders for the limited model are available for a limited time, with order books scheduled to open later this year (2022). 30th Anniversary edition Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles are slated to arrive in Jeep dealers at the beginning of 2023. For the time being, the model remains on public display until Sep 25 (2022) at the Detroit Auto Show for enthusiasts looking to get a closer view.
