When buyers look into purchasing smaller crossovers, a few benefits come into play: fuel economy, size, and price. However, with the small crossovers becoming more and more popular, buyer should take the time to take a closer look at all of the available features on various models and which one best suits their lifestyle.

Two compact crossovers available on the Jeep lineup are the Jeep Patriot and Jeep Compass and both models have a lot of personality and great features. Here’s a closer look at some of their differences and also some of the similarities.

With only minor changes since it’s introduction back in 2007, the Jeep Patriot is a dependable Jeep option. The Jeep Compass is a bit larger and it has made quite the  transformation since it’s introduction in 2006. The new (and improved) Compass now comes equipped with an improved suspension, updated framework, and the latest technology.

Off-Road Capabilities

The 2018 Jeep Patriot targets buyers that prefer a more traditional looking Jeep and want something that can get them through bumpy backwoods areas with ease. Buyers can check out the Freedom Drive II for continuously variable transmission.

The Jeep Compass, with Freedom Drive II package, is equipped with 17-inch wheels, brake-lock differential, tow hooks and an engine oil cooler. To top it off, this package doesn’t set buyers back much on pricing and it adds a lot more value.

Affordability is something the Jeep Compass and Patriot have in common. A worthy investment, the Jeep Patriot is more affordable than other competing models. The Patriot Sport, the base Patriot trim, is equipped with cruise control, tinted rear windows, and Bluetooth. The Jeep Compass is also very economical. The Compass Sport, the base Compass trim, features a 5.0-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth with voice command, and Uconnect 3.

Let’s face it, a Jeep looks like a Jeep. The front end and fascia, grille and body style of the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee were definitely used as inspiration when Jeep was designing the Patriot and Compass. Looks may not be everything, and when it comes to rugged good looks combined with exceptional suspensions and interiors, this smaller version of the bigger Jeep models could be exactly what many buyers want.
