Jeep Enters Three-Row SUV Segment With the All-new 2021 Grand Cherokee L
The Jeep Grand Cherokee began its journey to becoming the most awarded SUV in history nearly 30 years ago. Now, following four different generations of the model, nearly 7 million units in global sales, and numerous industry accolades, the Jeep brand continues to redefine the full-size SUV segment with the upcoming (and all-new) 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The newest variant is engineered and designed to boast an unmatched combination of premium styling, craftsmanship, a suite of advanced safety and technology features, legendary 4×4 capability, and superior on-road refinement. For the first time in its history, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will offer buyers seating for up to seven passengers.
“When you set out to reimagine an SUV as beloved as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, building on its nearly 30-year legacy as an overachiever is paramount to every decision that is made. With that legacy guiding the Jeep team, the new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is crafted to exceed expectations and do what no other SUV can do: deliver legendary Jeep 4×4 off-road capability blended with superior on-road manners. It is built on an all-new architecture and wrapped in a stunning new design that honors its iconic Jeep design heritage, while also extending to accommodate a third row to meet the growing needs of our Jeep customers who have asked for more space and functionality. The Grand Cherokee L truly stands out in its segment and continues to raise the bar in capability, performance and luxury, while also breaking new ground in versatility and functionality,” said Christian Meunier, Global President of Jeep Brand — FCA.
Designed inside and out to deliver unmatched capability, the state-of-the-art 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes with three different 4×4 systems — Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. Vehicle performance is largely improved due to all-new architecture and a sculpted aerodynamic body style that improves safety and reliability all while significantly making a dent in the vehicle’s overall weight, vibration, noise, and harshness. Next-generation features, upgraded technology, overall passenger safety, comfort, and convenience make the Grand Cherokee L a standout in the full-size SUV segment.
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will be built at the new Detroit Assembly Complex — Mack Plant — and will arrive in dealerships during the second quarter of 2021. Jeep is offering the Grand Cherokee L in four different trims: Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit. Additionally, Jeep also announced that the all-new two-row Grand Cherokee and an electrified 4xe variant are also scheduled to go into production at the Mack Assembly Plant later this year (2021).
