How-to Remove the Hard Top

  • Step One
    • In order to remove the two panels on the front top of the Wrangler, a user needs to push down on the two buttons located on the dashboard located between the air vents. Meanwhile, open all doors and windows and unclip the sun visors to move them out of the way.
  • Step Two
    • Above the left shoulder belt anchor, open the “L” shaped locks at the center of the roof panel.
  • Step Three
    • With a quick twist, unscrew the rear fastener knobs in the rollbar and remove them
  • Step Four
    • This step is very important so be extra careful!!!
    • While lifting the driver’s side panel first, unclamp the header panel latch and push up. Also, loosen the bolts attached to the hard top
      • Tip: story the panels vertically in order to avoid scratching. Put the rear seats down to allow an easier removal of the panels
  • Step Five
    • Remove the six  Torx Screws (3 per side) that secure the top of the Wrangler
    • There are six to eight Torx Screws depending on whether the Wrangler is two or four door
      • Tip: T40 Torx screwdrivers are available at any auto parts store
  • Step Six
    • Remove the two Torx head screws located at the rear of the front door
  • Step Seven
    • Slide the red locking tab sideways to disconnect the wiring harness then press the side tab and pull down
  • Step Eight
    • Disconnect the washer hose by pinching and pulling on the sides
      • Tip: Use the built-in roof screw storage area located in the back of the Wrangler
  • Step Nine – Final Step
    • Just lift and remove the hard top and let the sunshine in!

How-to Install the Hard Top

  • Step One
    • Carefully lift the hard top and set it in place
      • Tip: For easier clearance, keep the rear door and window partially open
  • Step Two
    • By pushing upward towards the assembly, reinstall the window washer hose until it clicks
  • Step Three
    • Press the side tab and push up to reinstall the wiring harness
    • Secure the red locking tab by sliding it sideways
  • Step Four
    • Replace the six Torx head screws (three per side) using a T40 Torx head driver to secure the top of the vehicle
      • Tip: T40 Torx screwdrivers are available at any auto parts store
      • Use the built-in roof screw storage area to keep the screws handy
  • Step Five
    • Four door Wranglers have an two additional Torx head screws located at the rear of the front door
  • Step Six
    • Install the ride side panel first while making sure the locating pin is properly secured in the correct hole on the side bar
  • Step Seven
    • After both of the headers are in place, close the header latch at the top of the windshield – then fold back up the sun visors
  • Final Step
    • Secure the rear fastener knobs by turning clockwise
