Jeep Inches Closer to the Big Reveal of its 2022 Jeep Compass
A few weeks ago we mentioned the rumor mill was heating up with rumblings of a redesigned 2022 Jeep Compass, but it appears we no longer have to wait on confirmation as Jeep accidentally gave away its secret. The Jeep Compass, largely considered one of Jeep’s more successful models abroad due to its compact and city-dwelling nature, seems to be headed for a big reveal at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in China at the end of November (2020). Prior to this confirmation, the new-and-improved Jeep Compass had been spotted by spy photographers with and without camouflage. To this day, we still haven’t been able to get a good look at the vehicle in all its glory, but Chinese spy photographers are working overtime trying to hunt down the model. Here’s what we think has changed from the current 2021 model.
Up front, the 2022 Jeep Compass looks similar to the current version, but there are some key differences. The grille, for example, appears to be within the same area as it is currently, but it clearly sports more curvature than before. The headlights have been narrowed –not as intensely as the infamous 2019 Jeep Cherokee, but we digress. As for the biggest change that experts have noted, it’s in the aggressive angular cutouts of the headlights where they meet the edges of the grille, giving the 2022 Jeep Compass a meaner look. Additionally, Jeep also added a new black insert further down on the grille, which works to round out the fog lamps on either side.
According to experts, the overall shape of the 2022 Compass is vaguely reminiscent of the telephone handset-shape that can be seen on the recent Dodge Charger lineup. The back of the Compass does not appear to showcase any major differences as it appears to be identical to the outgoing 2021 Compass. And while the number of trims is still a secret, some photographers also spotted a 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk, meaning that Jeep remains committed to give its enthusiasts a little more bite behind the wheel. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk features a new matte black hood graphic complete with a red stripe on one side, black cladding, and no contrasting two-tone roof color.
Prospective buyers can also expect new alloy wheels similar to those on the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. The only downside to all of this new information is that our intel on the interior of the new Compass is nonexistent. Much to our chagrin, this is where the most substantial changes are likely to occur. A massive 10-inch Uconnect infotainment touchscreen display is expected, while the high-tier trim levels are also rumored to sport a fully digital instrument panel as well. Stay tuned as The Jeep Experts bring you the newly revised Jeep Compass in a few weeks.
