Jeep to Electrify Enthusiasts With Debut of the Wagoneer S

Back in September 2022, Jeep sent a jolt through the automotive world with its first electric vehicle concepts revealed during 4xe Day celebrations. While the off-road-focused Recon EV captured headlines with its Wrangler-inspired removable top, the Wagoneer S took a decidedly different direction. Despite its name suggesting a kinship to the luxurious, three-row gas-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the Wagoneer S appears poised to be a two-row, performance-oriented crossover built for the asphalt jungle.

With the official debut scheduled for May 30th (2024) in New York City, here’s a closer look at what we know so far about the highly anticipated 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S.

Design Unveiled

Unveiling more than just specifications, Jeep has released several images showcasing the production-ready Wagoneer S. Staying true to its concept car roots, the Wagoneer S boasts a bold and modern design. Its front fascia appears wide and low for a Jeep, striking a balance between the sleek lines of a Lucid Air and the rugged handsomeness of a Grand Cherokee. A signature Jeep element remains, however, with the iconic seven-slot grille illuminated beneath a now-commonplace EV design element – a sweeping LED light strip stretching across the front. This blend of futuristic touches with classic Jeep heritage hints at a truly unique electric offering. Unlike the gas-powered Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers, the Wagoneer S prominently features Jeep branding on its exterior.

Pure Electric Power

Unlike its gas-guzzling siblings, the Wagoneer S is confirmed as a pure electric vehicle, boasting an estimated range of 400 miles on a single charge. But this Jeep stands out in another way – it’s poised to fill the void left by the discontinued Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk as a true performance SUV.

Jeep estimates the Wagoneer S will pack a powerful 600 horsepower, enabling a thrilling 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds, rivaling the acceleration of the legendary Hellcat-powered Trackhawk. Rest assured, Jeep hasn’t forgotten its off-road roots. The Wagoneer S will come standard with four-wheel drive and a terrain management system, ensuring it can handle both the asphalt jungle and unpaved adventures.

Facing Off With the Competition

MotorTrend suggests the Wagoneer S will slot in as a midsize offering, complementing the full-size Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. This positions it to compete with rivals like the sportier Range Rover Sport. While a full-electric Grand Wagoneer is likely on the horizon, it appears the Wagoneer S will be the first electric Jeep to market, potentially followed by a 4xe plug-in hybrid version of the Grand Wagoneer.

Attention Audiophiles!

In late January 2024, Jeep offered a glimpse inside the Wagoneer S with the first official photo of its interior. The image showcases the standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof, bathing the cabin in natural light. Staying true to Jeep’s commitment to premium audio experiences, the Wagoneer S will also boast a segment-exclusive, 19-speaker McIntosh sound system – a feature familiar to drivers of other Jeep SUVs.
