Jeep Wagoneer S Charges Forward to Debut

To further stoke the excitement (and maybe stir up a little friendly competition?), Jeep just dropped a teaser video. Not only does it showcase the Wagoneer S in action, but it also confirms some key details that add to what we learned back in January. One surprise? Buckle up for a 2024 model year, not 2025!
The teaser video, clocking in at nearly two minutes, takes viewers on a thrilling ride to Willow Springs Raceway in California. A quick disclaimer at the beginning – “dramatization” – hints at the playful tone to come. You can check it out for yourself above, but the gist of it is this: the Jeep Wagoneer S goes head-to-head with a Tesla Model Y Performance in a staged race. This electric showdown leaves us wondering – is Jeep throwing down the gauntlet to the current king of the electric SUV market?
The teaser video doesn’t declare a definitive winner, but the Wagoneer S muscles its way to the front in the final frame. Jeep throws down a gauntlet with a claimed 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds – a whole tenth of a second faster than their earlier claims. Speaking of claims, the rumors about the Wagoneer S packing 600 horsepower were spot-on, thanks to a pair of electric motors powering all four wheels. But here’s the real shocker: the torque output is a whopping 617 lb-ft! That figure might leave some wondering if the legendary Hellcat V8 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has risen from the dead – it even makes a surprise appearance in the video.
Remember that 400-mile range target Jeep tossed around back in 2022 when they first showed off the Wagoneer S concept? Yeah, that’s officially extinct. Now, expectations are set for “300-plus” miles, which is still seriously impressive for an electric SUV.
