Jeep’s Tuscadero Shade Gets an Extended Run on the Iconic Wrangler
Ever since Jeep first introduced its Tuscadero shade in August 2021 exclusively for the Jeep Wrangler, the automaker has been inundated with special orders. The head-turning shade managed to rack up over 30,000 orders this year (2021), accounting for about 10 percent of all sales and making it the most popular Jeep Wrangler special-edition shade.
“We expected Tuscadero to be popular and the customer response has been overwhelmingly strong. It’s so popular, we’re extending production into 2022 model-year production to meet strong customer demand. Customers can place an order through December of this year,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President and Head of Jeep Brand North America.
The daring Tuscadero shade, an intense and deep chromatic Magenta, joins an existing lineup of very vivid and special-edition colors, including Chief, Nacho, and most recently Gecko Green. All shades add even more personalization and customization options for Jeepers – all with a special color palette directly from the factory. Tuscadero is available on all Wrangler trims, including Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, 392, and 4xe. Prospective buyers have until the end of December 2021 to order the special shade. The special-edition color is priced at $395.
What’s new on the 2022 Jeep Wrangler
This current generation of the Jeep Wrangler finds itself in the middle of its lifespan, with an overhaul programmed for the 2023 model year as competition from the Ford Bronco ramps up. To keep things fresh for 2022 Jeep added a Willys trim to the lineup and included the Xtreme Recon Package to really hone in on the model’s capabilities. This all-new trim comes complete with 35-inch BF Goodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, 17-inch wheels, upgraded brakes, a series of blacked-out exterior trim and badges, and a 1.5-inch suspension lift. The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Willys with the Xtreme Recon Package is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine under the hood, while the trim is only available on the four-door body style.
2022 marks the first time the iconic Jeep Wrangler has plenty of options under the hood. There’s literally a powertrain for every need. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is the standard engine under the hood, but buyers can opt for a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel option, as well as a supercharged 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine – depending on the trim. The 2022 Wrangler also goes green with the inclusion of the Wrangler 4xe variant, the first plug-in hybrid of its kind.
