What’s New on the 2020 Pacifica

October 25th, 2019 by

Chrysler eliminated what used to be the entry-level trims — L, LX, and Touring Plus — of its Pacifica minivan to make room for the incoming 2020 Voyager minivan. The base model is now the Touring trim, with a starting MSRP of $34,990 (including the destination fee), but what else is new for the family-friendly Pacifica model come 2020? Let’s see what Chrysler is offering potential buyers.

The pricing structure changes are what most people will notice first, aimed to provide greater separation between the Voyager and long-distant relative Dodge Grand Caravan — both options are aimed at shoppers on a budget. This new air of distinction for the Pacifica also comes with a new Red S Edition Package, an addition to the existing Sport Appearance package, intended to give the minivan more of a sinister edge. The Pacifica Hybrid model also comes in Touring, Touring L and Limited trims, like the gas-powered model. Chrysler also celebrated the minivan’s 35th anniversary in 2019 with a special edition minivan and it intends to continue celebrating in 2020 as the anniversary editions of both gas and hybrid models will be available for the 2020 model year as well.

The aforementioned Red S Edition package features red leather seats with gray trims, a 20-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, the Advanced SafetyTec Group, red exterior badges, and a programmable key for teen drivers. Standard on the gas-powered Pacifica are 20-inch wheels, while the hybrid variant features 18-inch wheels. The Red S Edition package is exclusive to the Limited trim and retails for $3,995 on gas models, while the pricing for the hybrid is yet to be announced. Gas models also enjoy a new dual-pane panoramic moonroof, along with eight-passenger seating.

All Pacifica trims come standard with front-wheel-drive and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. Paired to the gas-powered Pacifica is a nine-speed automatic transmission, while the modified Atkinson Cycle V6 on the hybrid is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and a lithium-ion battery. The Pacifica Hybrid offers buyers a 32-mile electric-only range and a combined range that exceeds 500 miles. Seven seats are standard on the gas trims, along with Stow ‘n Go on the second and third rows. Seating for eight is possible only on the gas trims, with seating for seven and no stow ‘n Go features available on the hybrid variant.

Chrysler dominates the minivan segment and is proud to be the only automaker to offer a hybrid variant of the minivan. These family-friendly vehicles offer buyers plenty of versatility and space, tamping down the stigma about minivans having no edge.
