Jeep Celebrates International Day of the Girl With Rebelle Rally Celebration
International Day of the Girl, celebrated annually on October 11, serves as a global platform to empower and amplify the voices of girls worldwide. Mere moments after this significant day, the Rebelle Rally, an extraordinary eight-day off-road navigation adventure spanning 1,500 miles of rugged desert terrain in the American Southwest, will commence. The Jeep brand, an ardent supporter, has been championing the Rebelle Rally since its inaugural edition in 2016.
In honor of this globally acknowledged day and the demanding navigation rally taking place from October 12 to 21, the Jeep brand is unveiling a short film titled “Rebelle With a Purpose.” This cinematic presentation showcases remarkable women in their preparation for the Rebelle Rally, and features the inspirational journey of Nena Barlow, a two-time Rebelle Champion and the driver of a Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Nena embodies the core principles of the Jeep brand, emphasizing adventure, freedom, authenticity, and passion, as she actively endeavors to empower a fresh wave of female off-road drivers. Her training sessions are meticulously crafted to instill confidence and foster a welcoming environment for newcomers to the sport.
“We are changing the stereotypes of off-roading, and my hope is to provide more pathways for entry, especially for women. The more events we have like the Rebelle Rally, the more women are breaking down barriers, making the route smoother for the next generation to enter this world, and I am already seeing change with Gen Z feeling like this is more of their world,” Barlow said.
In 2023, the Jeep brand is renewing its collaboration with Barlow and Teralin Petereit for the third consecutive time. Under the banner of Team 4xEventure, they will navigate a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon, aiming to defend their previous victories in the overall, electrified, and stock categories, which they secured over the past two years while driving a stock Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
In its eighth year, the Rebelle Rally stands as an arduous eight-day off-road navigation competition, boasting participation from 10 automakers and 65 teams representing 28 states and three nations. The diverse range of vehicles comprises the 4×4 class and X-Cross class, encompassing crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks. Furthermore, there are various special designation awards, including the electrified and bone stock categories. Notably, the electrified category, introduced in 2020 to assess and showcase electric powertrain vehicles in off-road scenarios, will see a greater number of participants this year. Electrified vehicles will be classified into either the 4×4 or X-Cross class based on their off-road capabilities. The 2023 Rebelle Rally commences on Thursday, October 12, in Mammoth Lakes, California, and concludes on October 21 in the Imperial Sand Dunes in Southern California.
