The Jeep brand proudly commemorated the sale of its five-millionth Jeep Wrangler, a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition in Earl exterior paint. This significant milestone for the automaker came via a purchase from a customer in Camden, New Jersey. In celebration of this achievement, the owner will be awarded $5,000 worth of Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) by Mopar, along with a lifetime of Jeep Wave customer care benefits. This memorable accomplishment for the automaker aligns perfectly with the debut of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, slated to be available in markets worldwide. Concurrently, it marks the kick-off of the “Famous for Freedom” global marketing campaign, showcasing the iconic 1995 track, “California Love.”

“With 5 million Wranglers sold, the Jeep brand continues to grow, fueled by the unwavering passion of the Jeep global community. With legendary 4×4 capability, open-air-freedom and a timeless design, the Wrangler embodies the spirit and the soul of the Jeep brand. More than 80% of the 5 million Wranglers sold since 1986 are still on the road, having fun out there and showcasing the amazing staying power of the vehicle. Our new 2024 Wrangler raises the bar once again as the most capable Wrangler yet, with more technology, safety features and refinement,” said Jim Morrison, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep brand North America.

The Evolution of the Jeep Wrangler

Thirty-seven years ago, the very first Jeep Wrangler, known as the YJ generation, began its production journey at the American Motors Corporation facility. Over the span of 1987 to 1995, the YJ made its mark on the automotive segment by selling an impressive 630,000 units. Following the YJ’s trailblazing success, the TJ emerged in 1996, succeeded by the JK in 2006 and the JL in 2017. Each new generation built upon the legendary heritage, combining unparalleled off-road prowess with the iconic Jeep Wrangler essence.

The Wrangler saga began with the YJ, initially offered as a sole two-door model featuring two engine choices: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder. Subsequent iterations of the Wrangler have been meticulously crafted to enhance comfort and daily usability, while preserving its status as the world’s foremost off-road SUV icon. Today, the brand-new 2024 Jeep Wrangler exceeds expectations in capability, technological innovation, and refinement. The lineup boasts a variety of models, including Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Willys, Rubicon, the new Rubicon X, High Altitude, and Rubicon 392.

From the electrifying 4xe plug-in hybrid, delivering an impressive 49 MPGe, to the mighty V-8-powered 470-horsepower Rubicon 392, the 2024 Jeep Wrangler presents a diverse range of powertrain options in the off-road realm. This empowers Wrangler enthusiasts to select the propulsion system that best suits their lifestyle. The arrival of the 2024 Jeep Wrangler in North American dealerships is anticipated this quarter (late 2023), marking another milestone in the Wrangler’s legendary journey.
